By accessing our SMCC Internet, each person agrees to our SMCC Terms of Service provided below.

Sandy Mush Community Center (SMCC) Internet Access Policy – Terms of Service

Sandy Mush Community Center provides access to the Internet to connect our community to the world of ideas and information, and to provide equal access to that information for all individuals in the community. SMCC-owned devices are available during open SMCC Internet hours,  and free, unsecured wireless Internet access is available for community use. This policy applies to all use of SMCC’s wired or wireless Internet service, whether privately-owned or SMCC-provided devices are operated.  You may use this Service only if you agree to the following Terms of Service each time you access the Service.

Providing access to information available on the Internet does not constitute endorsement of the content by the SMCC. SMCC expressly disclaims any liability or responsibility arising from access to or use of information obtained through the Internet.

Guest User Responsibilities:

Individuals must accept responsibility for evaluating the content of resources they view, read, or listen to. Monitoring and any restriction of a child’s access is the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian.

Guests handling financial transactions or other activities that require confidentiality do so at their own risk. The Internet is not a private environment and security of electronic communication cannot be guaranteed.

Guests are urged to respect the sensibilities of others. Privacy while using the Internet in SMCC cannot be guaranteed. There exists a possibility of inadvertent viewing by others.

Each user is responsible for complying with copyright law and adhering to software licensing agreements, as well as all local, state, and federal laws including, but not limited to, those concerning fraud, privacy, or obscenity. Use of the SMCC’s Internet connection in an illegal, disruptive, or destructive manner will result in the loss of Internet privileges.

Security for personal wireless devices rests solely with the owner. SMCC volunteers do not provide technical support.

Terms of Service – Access to WiFi.

The Service is a free public service provided by SMCC. Your access to the Service is completely at the discretion of SMCC, and your access to the Service may be blocked, suspended, or terminated at any time for any reason including, but not limited to, violation of this Agreement, disruption of access to other users or networks, or violation of applicable laws or regulations. SMCC may revise the Terms of Service at any time. You must accept this Agreement each time you use the Service and it is your responsibility to review it for any changes each time.  This is an open wireless network.  No network communication is 100% secure.  Please remember: NO network communication should be considered private or protected. All communication over the SMCC network is subject to monitoring. SMCC reserves the right to reduce throughput or access as need be.

Acceptable Use of the Service.

Your use of the Service and any activities conducted online through the Service shall not violate any applicable law or regulation or the rights of SMCC, or any third party. SMCC cannot accept any responsibility for any injury or loss that results from inaccurate, unsuitable, offensive, or illegal Internet communications.

THE USE OF THE SERVICE FOR THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES IS PROHIBITED:  Spamming and Invasion of Privacy of Others, Violating Intellectual Property Law, Transmitting Obscene or Indecent Speech or Materials, Transmitting Defamatory or Abusive Language, Hacking or Distribution of Internet Viruses, Worms, Trojan Horses, or Other Destructive Activities.

SMCC Internet Use Rules

  1. Through paper or online sign-in, all users must agree to follow the Internet Access Policy each time access is needed.
  2. All printouts must be paid for at .20 per copy.
  3. No downloading allowed to SMCC computers.  You may use a flash drive.
  4. Computer time is limited to 30 minutes when someone is waiting.
  5. SMCC volunteers cannot provide computer or Internet instruction.
  6. SMCC volunteers cannot supervise youth.
  7. Please use personal headphones if listening to any audio/video.
