Quilt Days at SMCC

SMCC will partner with the Quilt Alliance to host Community Quilt Days at SMCC on April 23 and 30

April 23 and 30, 2023

Community Quilt Days at the Sandy Mush Community Center

Do you make or love quilts?

The nonprofit Quilt Alliance and the Sandy Mush Community Center will present two free Community Quilt Days in April.

Sunday, April 23, from 12pm – 4pm

Join us for a talk about quilts in Western North Carolina. You’ll see an interview with local quilt artist Norma Bradley, learn about historic quilts made in the area from quilt historian Connie Brown, and find out how to document the quilts you own and make. Come for the presentation from 12:30pm -1:30pm and stay for fun interactive and educational displays, available until 4pm.

Sunday, April 30, from 12pm – 4pm

Sign up for a time slot to bring in your quilts (ones you’ve made or ones you own) to share and document. We’ll have photo and video stations set up and an interactive station for attaching labels to quilts. Quilt historian Connie Brown and quilt artist Norma Bradley will be available to help identify quilt patterns and other details of vintage and antique quilts.

Free Registration

Registration is optional—drop-ins will be fine too, but it will give us at least a ballpark sense of how many people to expect, for planning refreshments, etc.

We look forward to meeting you!
